Just a leisurely 40 minute drive up the Monash and Princes Freeways from Melbourne's eastern suburbs, the Drouin Golf & Country Club, boasting 27 holes and a new $1.5 million clubhouse, is fast becoming one of the jewels of regional golf in Victoria.
At $25 a round midweek ($28 weekends), plus the comforts of the elegant new clubhouse, it is no surprise that the "have golf clubs, will travel" brigade find the trip to Drouin an experience worth repeating.
Each of the three different course configurations measure around the very respectable 6000 metres in length. In all, there are six par 5s ranging from 462m to 488m, and six challenging par 3's with carry from 125m to 182m.
From the wide open links to narrow tree lined fairways, each hole at Drouin presents a different challenge and the gently undulating landscape enables easy relaxed walking for all ages. All of this plus some of the finest views in country golf.
